As June approaches, so does the busiest time of the year for weddings, family reunions and other summer fun. Will you be celebrating your own union or attending a loved one’s wedding? Getting together with family and friends for reunions? Show off your smile with implant-supported dentures. These are a more secure solution to loose or missing teeth as well as support your bone structure. Dr. Nicholas and her team of specialists here in Palm Desert, California, can help you get the desired look, so your smile can shine bright this summer!
Not only do you want a full smile of teeth for your summer events, but you also need them to support your jaw and keep correct alignment. Other advantages of implant-supported dentures include:
– Improvement of speech
– Confidence is boosted
– Proper chewing that leads to better digestion and distribution of nutrients
– No need for denture adhesives
– Much less irritation of gum tissue
– Better bite so you can eat your favorite foods
– Replace loose or damaged teeth
– Don’t make noise and or shift around
With the loss of teeth, you lose supportive bone material as it deteriorates over time. Even regular brushing and flossing won’t prevent it. Traditional (complete or partial) dentures don’t help either since they can actually increase bone loss! Implant-supported dentures not only give the structure needed to protect the underlying bone, but they also protect gum tissue and prevent sores and soreness.
If you have healthy gum and bone material to hold the dental implant’s titanium screw, you qualify for these supported dentures. The screw is placed and, in a natural process called osseointegration, the bone fuses into the grooves, providing a stable and secure base.
Implant-supported dentures can be placed in two forms, ball-retained or bar-retained. Ball-retained dentures are when the dental implant has a metal stud attachment that fits into a connecting overdenture. The overdenture is typically made of teeth that appear to be natural with the help of a porcelain or acrylic material as well as acrylic material-simulated gums. Bar-retained dentures are installed using a metal bar that works into the curve of your jaw. The bar is attached to the dental implants that have been installed into your jawbone. The denture is snapped into place by attachments that are fitted to the bar, the denture or both of them.
You’ll want to smile more, show off and use your teeth confidently after you have had Dr. Nicholas and her team of specialists place implant-supported dentures.
